About Troop 226

Purpose
Founded on the wisdom of Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”, Troop 226’s purpose is to help parents train and equip their sons, through the Scouting program, to be capable Christian leaders, husbands, fathers, and citizens. This training is built upon the foundation of the Bible and the Scout Oath and Law.

Scout Oath
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Vision
Troop 226 is committed to support parents in training up their sons in the way they should go. It is our intent to help each young man under our care to become a responsible husband, father, and citizen who is guided by the Bible and the Scout Oath and Law.

Mission
Troop 226 is dedicated to a biblical worldview, serving as an instrument to guide young men to honor God, make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes, and experience outdoor adventure. We will deliver a quality Scouting program that honors God and equips young men to be prepared to live out the Scout Oath and Law.

History
Troop 226 was chartered by Yorktown Christian Academy in May 2011 as an extracurricular activity and ministry to boys in the community. Troop 226 operates as a part of the Outdoor Adventure Program at Yorktown Christian Academy, along with BSA Troop 356 for girls and Cub Scout Pack 226 for families. All registered leaders in these programs must be in agreement with the school's Statement of Faith.
